The word 'usury' is one of the most obscure words in the English
language. It sounds archaic, irrelevant, retrograde or obscure. Indeed, the
devil has made the very term 'usury' to sound archaic so that people will not
even regard it as relevant, but as retrograde and obscure.
Yet, it is the most
ubiquitous thing in the modern financial world, usury, which is any interest on
a loan, and not just 'excessive' interest which is nothing more than a
perverted redefinition of what usury is.
The spirit behind
usury is the spirit of mammon who dominates the entire system of finance. He
entices the entire world with not only through greed and materialism, but an
desire for basic financial security, as well as ease and comfort. He lures all
people, whether rich or poor, people of all religions, culture and political
ideologies, promises of great riches, wealth and prosperity.
Usury is the core
of the capitalist system. It is what makes the capitalist system in its full
development so enslaving, and yet so 'liberating' in allowing people to acquire
more wealth for a shorter period of time through debt.
Historically,
usury was prohibited in the west. The Church slowly compromised with more
liberal laws on usury to make exceptions to the prohibition. The death knell to
any prohibition or hindrance on usury in the west was brought about by
liberalism, more specifically the Enlightenment.
However, the
Enlightenment only brought about the natural end of the anti-usury revolution
which started with Reformation leader John Calvin who twisted the Bible to
justify usury. Calvin was the culprit. The unsaved Enlightenment figures only
sought to bring into effect what Calvin proposed, that there is nothing sinful
about usury, unless it 'hurts' or 'harms' people. This mix of truth and lies is
the greatest deception.
Usury is a vile, perverse sin, that is not merely a 'financial crime' in modern parlance, but an abomination itself in every aspect of it. It is not merely a financial harm, but oppression in every sense. It is to profit off the debt slavery of another, keeping him in perpetual poverty.
