The doctrine of love is the doctrine that people in today's Church love the most. People love to hear about the doctrine of love, not because they are full of love, but because they want to be loved. However, their want to be loved is derived from their self-centred love that is vile, evil and wicked. They want to be loved, but have no love themselves. That is the height of all self-love, which is nothing but idolatry. The ultimate manifestation of idolatry is the love of self. It is to love oneself for being oneself which is exactly what the problem of self-love. It regards oneself as worthy of love, when one is not worthy of love at all. It is a proud love of self, that the world regards as 'self-respect'. Self-love is Adamic, full of venom and the hatred of God. The evangelical church is always talking about marriage and family, constantly berating people who are still not married by a certain age for not having managed to marry by that age. It is constantly cajoling them to get married.    Anyone who is not married past a certain age is seen as selfish, ungodly, unholy, unrighteous, and even, in some cases, is assumed to be a homosexual, a fornicator, a pornography addict or a masturbation addict, just by virtue of being single. Apart from the fact that these are offensively crass assumptions about all singles, including single Christians, the fact that such assumptions are being made is the symptom of a more serious problem, which is that of the idolatry of marriage and family. The modern Church has made marriage and family an idol. People of conservative Christian circles keep trying to scare young people, especially young women into getting married young, in their early 20s, most of whom are hardly mature enough to look after themselves, let alone look after another person. They love to spread the narrative that a woman who is unmarried and pursued a vocation will be in a nursing home, all lonely and sad in her sixties.  Do not fall for their lies and scare tactics of these marriage-idolators. One of the most irksome things in the modern Church in the west is its idolatry of marriage and family. They treat these things as though one must be married and have a family to be saved, often without realising that is exactly what their thinking is. As such, they make many unmarried Christians, or those who may be married but have no children or grandchild feel that they are less blessed, less favoured by God, or even cursed.  Many married Christians of the older generation, out of fear of how the culture has perverted single, love to warn single Christians about their impending loneliness in old age owing to their singleness, as if a person who is married could never be lonely in his or her old age.
