The spirit of Paganism is of Degeneracy, Rebellion and Bloodlust

Paganism is the rejection and hostility towards all Christian virtues. It is not merely the unbelief in fundamental Christian theological doctrine, but the hatred of Christian virtues. This ultimately leads to the active, outright embrace of all manner of degeneracy. The scriptures describes such paganism in Romans 1:18-32:   For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts wer...

Beware the Cares in the World Choking out the Word

Many in the modern Church say that practicing self-denial, by not striving after any earthly treasures or pleasures, but rather, letting God give one such things as He pleases, in His timing and in the way He chooses, is ascetism. They call it ascetism in denouncing such as mindset as legalistic or pharasical.  The essence of ascetism is not self-denial, but in seeking to be righteous by one's own works through self-denial, as opposed to trusting in Jesus' righteousness. They may say that if one is able to practice self-denial in such a way, then that is good, but that it is not necessary to please God to do so. Therein lies the deception that one does not need to practice self-denial. What part of Jesus' teaching that " If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me " (Matthew 16:24) is so hard to understand? Let me tell you what is so hard to underst and about that teaching. It is that people cannot accept that but ...

Love Never Seeks to Ultimately Appease People, but Ultimately Seeks to Appease God

Many in the modern Church in the west think that love means to give people what they want to 'make them happy'. They think it means to appease people.  They think that to saying homosexuality is a sin in a bold way is unloving. They think that saying that abortion is murder directly and clearly is unloving. They think that saying that homosexuals disproportionately abuse children is unloving. Whenever anyone says that, they are quick to rebuke people about 'loving' such sinners, as if they were so much for loving themselves.  In John 14:21, Jesus says: He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him . One such commandment is to preach the Gospel to every nation, baptize them, and teach them to observe Jesus' commandments : Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of t...

Why Bother With Studying the Evil Doctrines of the World if One is Christian?

Many followers of Christ in the west do not believe that studying the philosophy of false doctrines of the world is important. They think it is simply a colossal waste of time.  But is it really? The Bible warns the follower of Christ not allow the world to influence him or her: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:1-3). This is because it is all too easy to be influenced by the world. As long as one is not seeking counsel fr...

Covetousness Does not Necessarily Demand An "Unfair" or "Excessive" Share

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God (Luke 12:18-21). Many people think that to be covetous means to demand more than one 'deserves', or more than one's "fair share". However, this is far from the Biblical understanding. In Luke 12:13, a man asked Jesus to tell his brother to give him his inheritance. This inheritance was distributed under the Jewish law.  He said to Jesus: " Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me ". Jesus did not seek to be judge or arbitrator of the property dispute between the man...

There is No True Exception to the Moral Prohibition against Usury

The Moral Law of God stems from His very Character and His very nature. It is eternal. God gave Old Testament Israel the Mosaic Law which contains three types of laws: ceremonial laws, civil laws and moral laws. Although the ceremonial and civil laws of the Old Testament are not morally binding today, they all have a moral and spiritual significant underlying them. It is the moral and spiritual significance underlying all the ceremonial and civil laws which still apply today because the moral and spiritual lesson behind them are of the Moral Law of God.  The civil laws of Israel regulated how God's justice and law was to be administered regarding the temporal. For example, the laws regarding property were civil laws of Israel, which were based upon the Moral Law of God as all laws of God given by the Prophets are based on the Moral Law, which hinges on His Love. Jesus made this clear in Matthew 22:37-40, when asked what was the Greatest Commandment in the Law in Matthew 22:36: ...

The modern western Church is Full of Unbiblical, Vile, Evil, Disgusting Doctrines. She is like salt that is thrown out and trampled on.

Many in the modern western Church unthinkingly accept the doctrine of demons such as doctrine of "rights", "equality" and "private property" as legitimate, or even Biblical.  They think that anything which the secular 'liberals' critique must be right, because they are liberals, and that anything secular 'conservatives' support must be somewhat legitimate, or at least, not evil.  Such unthinking Christians are wrong to think as such. The issue is not whether it is 'liberal', 'conservative', 'radical', 'labour' or "Liberal' is determining the morality of an action. The issue is whether it truly is that which is in accordance to the righteousness of God.  It is because of the modern western Church's wavering stance on moral issues, and its fear of people that make her all too willing to compromise with the world, so as to whore with it, that she is like salt that is not only good for nothing. She...

It's what you do with your money that matters, not whether you are rich or poor

The world thinks the issue is whether one rich or  poor , and expresses admiration the poor in a hypocritical way, thinking that being poor makes one a good person.  No, It is not about being rich or poor. It is about how uses one's God-given possession to serve Him. Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me (Proverbs 30:8).

Exposing the spirit of war

War. Many die as a result of it. Many families are torn apart because of it. Many women lose their sexual dignity as a result of it. Many children are tortured and manipulated into it. War.  Many Christians claim to support war in the quest to serve justice and help the vulnerable. They claim that this is a righteousness, despite not knowing about the roots of such thinking. Indeed, the "Just War" Theory was formulated by catholic church. Many in the modern church are influenced by it. Many non-Christians are influenced by it too in a quest for justice. Can war really be just? What is the real nature and spirit of war? What did Jesus say? That is what this next series of posts will explore.

Lutheran Legalism and the Spirit of Individualism

Luther's theology was one of legalism, placing an emphasis on faith and doing good works, rather than love. Legalism is of the carnal flesh which cannot please God in any way. Therefore, because it is of the flesh, it can only serve the flesh and is hostile towards God. Jesus made it clear that no one can serve both God and mammon. A person will serve one and hate the other. Since to serve the flesh is to serve mammon, legalism is that which serves mammon through serving the flesh. Legalism is that which sets up a set of values or standards that one should live by according to what one sees fit for oneself. The root of legalism is self-righteousness and pride, believing in one's own "goodness". Setting up one's own standards need not be "religious" to amount to legalism. Indeed, legalism can manifest in the "secular" context. It do so through the spirit of individualism that is rampant in secular societies.  Before general acceptance of...
