The Heresy of Faith as Mere Belief: True Faith is Obedience to God that manifest in Action, not Belief

The "protest"-ant reformation not only bought about many heresies, but legitimised heresy, because of the idea that every person has authority to interpret the Scripture as he sees fit, and not as inspired by the Holy Spirit. For anyone can say that his interpretation is inspired by the Spirit. Even cults say that they are inspired by the Spirit!  While some heresies are more obvious, such as the doctrines that God is not Triune, that Jesus did not become man, Jesus is not God, or that the God of the Old and New Testament are two different Gods, other heresies are far more subtle. Some of these far more subtle heresies are so generally accepted and have infiltrated into much of the Church that hardly anyone thinks of them as heresy.  One such heresy is that false doctrine that faith by which Salvation comes mean that one only needs to "just believe". All one needs to do is to believe in and affirm the doctrines of Salvation to be saved. A person need not take an...

Heresy: The Greatest Sin of Rebellion

Heresy is often thought to be simply any doctrine that deviates from the true doctrines about Jesus. While doctrines that deviate from the true doctrine about Jesus is certainly heretical, that is only an example of heresy. Such an understanding of heresy misunderstands the real essence and the nature of heresy itself.    Heresy is in essence, rebellion against God. It is the exercise of illegitimate authority against God through the perversion of doctrine. For in such doctrine is borne out of rebellion against God itself, a hatred of God, in particular, a love for that which is carnal. Jude 1:8-19 sums up the nature of heretics:  Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.  Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”  But these speak evil of whatever they do not know...

The Fundamentals of the Christian Faith: A Call to Christian Militancy

The Christian faith is militant, bold, and unapologetic. Scripture has a wealth of evidence that shows that this is so. Jesus said: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.   For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’;   and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household' (Matthew 10:34-36). He also said: " “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matthew 16:24).  These commands by Jesus shows that He expects nothing less than total and absolute sacrifice for Him, as followers of Jesus, nothing but a total surrender of one's life for Him, following His Commands. For Jesus said " If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15). This does not mean to keep His Commands in a legalistic way, by simply keeping rules as religious people make it out to be,...

Worshipping Jesus with the Lips, but having a Heart that is Far Away from Him

There are many in the professing Church today who are always talking about Jesus. His Name rolls from their tongues like the waterfall, and they are always singing songs that exalt His Name. His Name is the first and last Word, the Alpha and Omega, of all their prayers. Yet, their hearts are far from Him. Many of them are not really true followers of Jesus Christ, who truly love Jesus, intimately and passionately, as a Bride loves Her Groom: Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— For your love is better than wine. (Song of Solomon 1:2). The love the Shulamite woman had for her groom is only but a shadow of the Love the Church should have for Christ, one that obeys Christ because she loves Christ, as Jesus said: "If you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15)." True Christianity is about love for God, and love for others. That is how simply the fundamental tenet of what true Christianity is. Owing to the perversion and the waywardness of the human heart from...
