False Teaching Weakens Faith in God Because it Steals Joy from the Follower of Christ

" For the joy of the Lord is your strength " (Nehemiah 8:10). False teaching is dangerous because it teaches error, which destroys a person's right understanding of God and His ways. Without a right understanding of God, and His ways, one's relationship with God will be damaged, and even destroyed. One will not be able to have unity with God, which is the source of joy, from which one's strength of derived. True strength does not and cannot come from the arms of the flesh. Anything of the arms of the flesh is fallible and cannot be absolutely relied upon. Only God's strength can be absolutely and perfectly relied upon because He is the Creator of the Universe. That is why the Bible says: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah (2 Chronicles 32:8). Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh f...

False doctrines: the most effective way of undermining the Church

False doctrines are the most effective way of undermining the Church. Satan and his demons seduce people within the professing Church with lies, which is exactly what 1 Timothy 4:1 warns about:  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. These doctrines more often than not, if not always, mix truth with lies, lies so subtle that they seem harmless, and not a threat to the Church's theology. These lies are truthful enough to seem like truth, but yet so dangerous, dangerous enough to corrupt the soul, and the mind. These lies themselves are a stumbling block to people; it is not merely just the unrighteous of the heart, but these lies themselves that are a stumbling block, captivating people by their deceptions.  It is these lies which are very hard to discern, that which can only be discerned through discerning power from God, that cause much theological confusion. Peace is unity with God

To be in peace and have peace is to be in unity with God. Peace comes from righteousness, and thus the wicked shall have no peace. Christ is peace and so he who loves Christ loves peace. He who hates Christ hates peace. Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Way is peace, the Truth is peace, and the Life is peace.  Only by following the Way, the Truth and the Life will one have peace.  Peace is not the absence of fear, but the righteous fear of the Way, the Truth and the Life. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).

The spirit behind all sins is faithlessness

The spirit behind all sins is faithlessness. All sins are from a failure to trust in God's Word, character and Moral Law. Such failure to trust God is the hatred of God by humanity. It is a vile sin. Faithless is the spirit behind usury, a failure to trust that God will provide, leading to enslavement to earthly finances. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because  he eateth  not of faith: for whatsoever  is  not of faith is sin (Romans 14:23).

Addressing hard issues in the Bible

Below is a post by Ray Comfort. The principles he uses applies to all "hard" questions and objections asked of the Bible: "How do you explain to unbelievers who think that God is hateful etc, the 'violence' and 'slavery' in the Old Testament, that God is loving, just, kind etc?"  This is a hill upon which to die, particularly for the atheist. The argument is that if God can be proven to be evil, then He has no right to judge the world on Judgment Day. If he can prove that God is wicked, then in his own mind, he can justify his darling sins--pornography, lust, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, etc. It is because he is secretly trying to cover his sins that you will rarely give him an answer with which he agrees. Seldom will you hear, "Wow! I never knew that. That's very helpful. Thank you. I will now seek after God and soften my heart to the gospel." If you explain the slavery issue he will run to the issue of violence in th...

Legalism is of the Spirit of Rebellion

Those who are under the spirit of legalism often think that rebellion is off-limits for them. However, they do not realise that legalism itself is rebellion against God. This is because their pride blinds them from seeking God for a heart of love.  The Bible makes it clear that no one is good, no not one (Romans 3:10). This means that no one can do good works in the eyes of God in one's own strength. Romans 3:10-12 is perhaps the Biblical teaching that is the hardest to accept, but yet easy to use as an excuse for one's own sins, or to use against the unsaved on the grounds that the Bible does refer to some specific individuals as 'righteous'. Therefore, this verse, as is the case with all others, must be understood in the correct context. What this verse means is that no one is good in one's own human flesh. Nor can even seek to be righteous or good in one's own flesh. This is because the flesh has been corrupted with a sinful nature.  Wherefore, as by one ...

Luther's Doctrine and The Spirit of Legalism

There is much confusion within modern Christendom as to what is legalism and what does it means to not be legalistic. Whenever one sheds light on the sin of another, such rebuke is immediately treated to be "abuse" or "hatred". Anyone who dares rebuke another, or use the Law of God in evangelism is labelled a "legalist" or a "pharisee". I have experienced this myself whether I wrote articles to expose mammon, abortion or the homosexual agenda, I have been deemed to be a "legalistic" pharisee.  So, what is legalism? Legalism is the doctrine that one is good or justified by one's works in obeying a set of rules . How well one observes a set of rules is what determines one's moral worth. The Bible makes it very clear that no one is justified in any way by works of the Law of God: " Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law , but by the faith of Jesus Christ , even we have believed in Jesus Christ , that we ...

'Do Not Be Anxious About Your Life' is a Commandment from Jesus

Modern society is one marked by many individualistic characteristics, one of which is anxiety. People are anxious about their studies, work, family, career, job and money. People chase such things that will fade away. Such things which will all be gone one day. This indeed is a very sobering thought, and how sobering one sees it depends on the value that one places on such things.  Owing to its materialist outlook of life, anxiety is treated by modern society as a "mental health" issue. However the Bible makes it clear throughout that anxiety is from the flesh.  Matthew 6:24-25 tell us that " No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon .  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life , what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raime...

Obeying God and Keeping His Commandments

To be saved, one must have knowledge of sin. To have knowledge of sin, one must have the correct Biblical understanding of sin.  The Bible speaks about sin all throughout from Genesis to Revelation. Sin is transgression of God's Law whether by word, thought or deed. All sin opposed to God. To sin is to hate God. The wages of sin is death or Eternal Punishment in Hell (Romans 6:23). God must punish sin because He is just. It is just like how a just judge in a court of civil law cannot allow a murderer to go free because he is a just good judge. God hates sin No one who is unrighteous shall enter the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9). This is because God cannot permit unrighteousness. All unrighteousness, no matter how small it may seem compared to other acts of unrighteousness is still unrighteousness.  Despite that one cannot be saved by works, as the works of the unrighteous are like filthy rags to the Lord (Isaiah 64:6), the one who is truly saved produces good fruit....

Doctrine Matters

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.   Ye shall know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-16). Doctrine is teaching about what something is. One's understanding of something will determine how they will understand what is needed for one to act. The doctrine of Salvation is the most important doctrine for EVERYONE. It is about how to escape from God's righteous wrath, for which the sentence for the person is rightfully an Eternity in Hell. There is no question that the doctrine of Salvation is the most important doctrine of all. It is about where one spends Eternity. The most fundamentally important doctrines of the Bible are that: All humans have sinned against God.  The wages of sin is death, or an Eternity in Hell. Sin is transgression of God's Law. Hell is God's righteous, just punishment for guilty sinners. God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are part of the Holy Trini...

What is Lust of the Eyes?

The eyes, what you see visually, are the windows of your soul. What you see conveys to your mind and to your soul which will desire that which is seen, or no desire of that which is seen. 'Lust' is desire. Desire is a want for something. It need not be sexual, although sexual lust undeniably a sin (Matthew 5:28). Desire itself is not wrong per se, it is the evil, wicked desires that come from a wicked heart that are wrong. Even when one has been born again of the Spirit, one will still deal with temptations, and fall into sin, even though the old sinful self has died (Galatians 2:20). Such temptations include lust for anything of the world, that is anything the world esteems highly. The things that the world esteems highly are abominations in the eyes of God (Luke 16:15) because the world hates God. What is this to do with mammon? Mammon is the spirit behind wealth, riches and possessions. Many Christians think that worshipping mammon is just materialism. As such, they think ...

What is meant by the 'world' in 1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or anything in the world .  If anyone loves the world, love for the Father  is not in them .     For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh,  the lust of the eyes,  and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.     The world and its desires pass away,  but whoever does the will of God  lives forever (1 John 2:15-17).  Christians are often accused by the unsaved who are bitter against Christians of thinking that all humans are fallen. Yes, this is true because God says so, not because followers of Christ say so. The unsaved feel uncomfortable or upset at Christians because they are reminded that they are suppressing the truth by their own unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). This is how the true Christian, by their words and deeds should make the unsaved feel since Jesus said to His disciples that "i f the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.   If ye ...

Witchcraft: Public Enemy Number 1

When people hear about witchcraft, the first thing that comes to mind are witches on broomsticks, old ugly women who make cauldrons and only too keen on poisoning little children. This imagery has some truth in it, however, it is too simple. Witchcraft is the spirit of control, manipulation and domination. God does not sanction ANY relationship between humans to be one of domination. It is not part of His Nature to dominate people as He gives every person a free will. Thus, any relationship involving domination comes from satan. Satan uses such relationships to control the person and compel them to do his will to lead them to Hell. Money is Filthy Lucre

Money is a strange enigmatic thing. On one hand, money as a physical object itself is not evil. You can throw it in the bin, throw it down a drain or throw it on a train track so that it becomes dented. On the other hand, money has a spirit that works behind it that tempts people to feel secure about their need and seek only treasure on earth rather than treasure in Heaven. An unsaved person once said that she noticed two types of people: people who are controlled by money and people who are not controlled by money. People who are controlled by money alway feel that they need more. They often cry out to God, not in godly sorrow, but cry out to Him in vain for material things. People who are not controlled by money are content with what they already have whether poor or rich. A hallmark of contentment with what one has is the ability to give up what one has without holding any of it back. It is never the amount of money that one can give up that is irrelevant. Jesus rebuked the peop...

God's Deep, Wide Unfathomable Love

The world looks at the consequences in determining what is right or wrong, and judges others according to how one perceives another to benefit oneself.  It is desperately wicked, cruel, callous and deceitful. It looks at the material or physical realm and does not understand spiritual things. It is spiritually blind. God, however, looks at the heart. Since God is the Sovereign Creator of the Universe who gave all humans life, and yet humans reject Him who gave them life, and hated Him, His Laws are never changing (Malachi 3:6). God, in his great love and mercy for the whole world, sent His Only Begotten Son to die for the sins of the world so that whosoever shall believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).  It was our iniquites that crushed Him, our trangressions that pierced Him, chastised to bring us peace, and wounded to heal us (Isaiah 53:5). God's love is SOOOOOOO deep, and SOOOOOOO wide, that it is absolutely unfathomable to the human mind....

A Noble Four Letter Word

My father-in-law had a great impact on my life. He was father to four daughters and always considered me the son he never had. We were quite close and the world lost a great person when he passed away in 2005. One of our last few conversations before he died took place as we sat across the dining table from each other at his home in Toronto. He had been diagnosed with cancer and was given no more than a few weeks to live. It came as a shock to him and to us. In this, one of our “farewell” conversations, I’ll never forget a particular word he used because he used it often in moments of reflection. Read more...

The Old Sinful Self Has Died Once one is In Christ

Many of Christians in the modern church are confused about what the Bible says about sin. Galatians 2:20 states:  My  old self  has been  crucified  with Christ. It is  no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me . So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  Once a person is in Christ, Jesus  "has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12).  God is so merciful that He can forgive any sin no matter how deep or how entrenched, He can wash it all away when one comes to seek forgiveness from God. This is true repentance. Whenever you see a person whose mouth is stopped after you present the Law, he or she is ready for Grace. You must present Grace to them if their mouth is stopped, otherwise you are doing a disservice. A person's mouth is stopped when they know they have no excuse and are convicted they have broken God's Law. This does happened a...
