There are many deceptions in the professing Church today. One of the most insidious deceptions, if not the most insidious is that of religion. Religion deceives far more people than any secular ideology. Religious people recoil at secular thinking and its materialism, carnality and worldliness, but yet they think that materialism, carnality and worldliness wrapped under the guise of religion is not only justified, but right. The spirit of religion is real. The spirit of religion is a person, not an event, phenomenon or abstract idea. He is a demon. He has deceived so many people and is continuing to do so. Religion is not spiritual. True Christianity is not religion. It is a real and living intimate relationship with God. Many Christians love to point out the sins of sexual immorality, theft, abortion and drunkenness in others. They think that God is pleased with them because they do not commit such sins. However, many of them are full of carnality, living very carnal and worldly lives as evident in their mindset, thinking, attitudes and outlook on life - and they do not even know how carnal they are. The truth is that many Christians live outwardly respectable lives, lives where one has never been involved in sexual immorality, drunkenness, abortion, or theft. However, their lifestyle demonstrates that they are full of the love of self, love of pleasure and the love of mammon.
