Fighting the Four Evils

The modern person, whether saved or unsaved, is a very sensitive person, easily upset, pretends to be tolerant of others, but yet aggressive when others offend them personally. Many people are like that today, and it is a manifestation of a serious spiritual malaise. It is the manifestation of the human tendency of all of us to elevate ourselves, thinking we have liberty to do as we want, according to what we choose. That people do not even question the attitude of one doing as one chooses it itself an indictment on the vile, wickedness of humanity. The modern world only thinks of its liberty. It is all about liberty, to do as one chooses. In doing so, it sets up all kind of rules, yes rules, whether cultural, social, legal or political, to pursue such vile human liberty, in a legalistic manner, to satisfy the lusts of the flesh, lusts of the eyes and pride of life (1 John 2:16). Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye (Colossians 3:13). The human heart is one that is "desperately wicked and deceitful above all things" (Jeremiah 17:9). One of the wicked fruits of the human heart is unforgiveness. The Bible has much to say about unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a sin that we as humans tend to find more forgiveable (what irony!). However, unforgiveness is a serious sin that God hates as much as he hates any other sin of the flesh, as much as he hates pride and covetousness. It is as vile as pride and covetousness, whether for the unsaved or saved.  The only difference in the way God treats the unsaved and saved with respect to unforgiveness is that He expects the saved to forgive and that the unsaved will not nor cannot, unless by God gives them the grace to do so.
