The Essence of a Real Woman

There is much talk about Biblical womanhood in the Church, which indeed an important topic. However, owing to the confusion about the subject by many people because of misinterpretation and misapplication of Scripture, this subject has become controversial and difficult to understand.  Many attribute the controversial nature of the subject of Biblical womanhood in the eyes of today's Church to the influence of feminism in the Church. While it is true that much of the controversy is owing to many women being poisoned by feminism, there are also legitimate genuine concerns about certain purported teachings in the Church on Biblical womanhood. Such teachings that involve a perversion of Scripture that is being used to oppress women, which is a concern that warrants discussion. The use of Scripture of oppress people, not just women, is a very real concern.  All discussion on Biblical womanhood must address the fundamental question: what is a real woman? A real woman is one who...

Not All Good Earthly Things are Given to People by God

God gives people earthly temporal things, like jobs, marriages, families, food and money. However, not all earthly things are from God. Some are from the devil. In fact, for much of the time, most earthly things that people have are from the devil. So, how can one discern whether what one has is truly from God, or from the devil? If God has given something to a person, it is either for him or her to sustain himself or herself to do the Will of God, or to use for God's glory in serving God and others. Anything that God gives to a person is ultimately for His glory, and not for that person to indulge in, enjoy in and of itself, show others, or to use to gain power and control over others.  For Philippians 2:3-4 says:" Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. " Many professing followers of Christ constantly ...

Blessings are to be used to Give to Others, Not for Oneself to Consume

Blessings are often thought by many in the modern western Church to be that for oneself to enjoy. However, that is only a half-truth, and is a very dangerous half-truth. Many Christians think that having a new car, big house, or high income is a sign of God's favour to them. They think such is a blessing, and therefore for them to enjoy for themselves, and their own lives on earth. Such is an extremely self-centred, selfish and prideful mindset. It assumes that one has what one has because one deserves it, when all things are given by God's grace:   Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17). Note how James 1:17 refers to good gifts, and not entitlements or rights. People may be obliged by God on their own part to treat people in the right way or conduct themselves in right way towards others. However, the good which comes from the righteousness of...

Giving: Considering the Poor

Great article from I'llBeHonest about considering the poor: http://illbehonest.com/giving-considering-the-poor Note: Anti Mammon and Usury Conquerors' stance is not that "A person’s earned wealth is his own to do with as he pleases" as the article says. It is that a person is to use his wealth for God's glory and as God wills.

Help the Needy, and Do Not be Tainted by the World

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world (James 1:27). The Bible tells followers of Christ to help the needy and, indeed, there are many followers of Christ who do good works to serve the needy. However, what many often to do realise is that helping the needy people of the world can taint oneself. This is because many needy people are people of the world, who do not know God. They are wicked sinners like any other wicked sinner, rich or poor, powerful or lowly, famous or unknown. Needy people can be even more mammonised than those who are rich in the earthly sense of being rich. Their heart can and is full of wickedness and vile evil (Jeremiah 17:9). This is all too easy to forget as one is thinking about their earthly plight and how less "fortunate" they may be compared to oneself.  Such thinking is a manifestation of earthliness, that feels humanist...

True Generosity Gives Not Out Abundance, or Sacrifice But True Agape Love and Whole-hearted Faith in the Suficiency of God's Providence

Everyone in t he Church knows that true generosity is not out of giving out of one's wealth (Mark 12:44; Luke 21:4). Of course, many in the modern Church, would think, generosity is not giving out of one's wealth. For many of you would feel offended if someone gave you something out of their wealth, and thought themselves generous. Rather you would only be satisfied if someone gave to you sacrificially, of course, out of your selfishness and self-entitlement.  However, neither does given sacrificially amount to generosity. What it means to give generously means to give out of agape love, which manifests in giving freely and willingly, without any conditions to giving. It is to give without demanding that certain obligations be meet to satisfy one's fleshy desires to give only when one can gain something in return. It is give to one in need, so that those who have much do not have too much and those who have less do not have too little. The spirit behind generosity is a sp...

Having Compassion on All the Truly Needy is a Command from Jesus, Not a Suggestion, Advice or Opinion

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me (Matthew 25:45). One of the most confronting teachings of the Bible, which many true followers find hard to accept is that whosoever does not help those in need commit a grave sin against God and accordingly will go to Hell. This is indeed what the Bible teaches in Matthew 25:31-46.  1 John 3:17 makes it very clear:   But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? So, what exactly does it require of the follower of Christ when Bible commands him or her help the needy? This is the question we must ask.  Does it mean to help anyone who is needy, not just the fellow followers of Christ who are needy, but also the unsaved who is needy? What does it mean to truly help the needy? Who are the truly need? What qualifications are the...

Lukewarmness is a Manifestation of Seeking to Serve Both God and Mammon

And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD (Leviticus 18:21). In the Old Testament, the Israelites, while they offered sacrifices to God, also at the same time offered sacrifices the molech, the "god" or demon, of child sacrifice.  Such is the double-mindedness of the Old Testament Jews, most of whom were unbelievers. However, just because one is not an unbeliever does not mean that one cannot fall into such double-mindedness. The Church of Laodicea was full of such double-mindedness. It was a Church made up of believers, who became lukewarm (Revelation 3:14-22). Lukewarmness is the manifestation of the desire to serve two masters, that which are diametrically opposed. The Church of Laodicea was full of people who on one hand, wanted to serve God because of the peace and joy, but yet the same time, wanted to gain the 'good' things of the world. They wanted riches of the world...

To Love as God loves is to Totally and Absolutely Sacrifice One's very Self for Him, Without Apology, Reservation, Regret or Shame

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (1 John 4:7-8) Love. Everybody loves love. All of us want others to love us, and do not want others to hate us. So, what exactly does it means to love according to the Bible?  Love is not an emotion, or an affection towards another. Neither is it fondness towards another. One need not 'like' a person to love him or her.  Indeed, a person can dislike a person but still love that person, f or love is not about liking the person's character, personality, or mannerisms. Love does not need to manifest in emotions and speech, but rather, in action. Love is made manifest only by actions. It is not actions which are love, but rather the manifestations of love.  Here is what the Bible says about love: If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a...
