The spirit of religion is an extremely pernicious and dangerous spirit, far more dangerous than the spirit of Jezebel who everyone loves to target. Let me be clear, the spirit of Jezebel is evil, but she only arises because the spirit of Abab exists. One would be wise to remember that it was not the spirit of Jezebel, but the spirit of religion who murdered Jesus. For every one person under the spirit of Jezebel, there are thousands under the spirit of religion. The spirit of religion is a vile spirit that not only claims holiness and righteousness, and appears to be holy and righteous to others. It is a spirit that attempts to justifies its own wickedness and unrighteousness by trying to legitimise its false holiness and righteousness on others. This explains why religious people love the moral Law. It is because in trying to legitimise their own holiness and righteousness, they must find that by which they can justify themselves. Much of the time, the earthly temporal things people have are not truly from God. Satan himself gives people such things, including things that are not inherently sinful, such as food and temporal authority. Satan tempting Jesus in the desert shows that satan himself is capable of giving people things they want or need (Matthew 4:3-9). Many people, especially the most rich people, work very hard for the things of the world, and are rewarded by the world. They devote themselves to pleasing people to gain their favour, and use all kinds of ways to get what they want, for themselves, even if it requires one to be unethical, immoral, unjust or unrighteous. They can never rest when things do not go their way, and seek to 'resolve' difficulties by all manner of evil and wickedness.  The things which they have are not from God, and are not God's "blessings", but from the devil, which the world rewards them with.  They earned what they have as a result of seeking thin...

Many people in the modern professing Church think that having an abundant life means to work hard for one's job or career, get married and have children, buy a house, buy a car, earn as much income as one can, take as many holidays as one can, and be an influential well-respected member of society and one's circles.   They think that this all shows how "blessed" they are, that it is a sign of God's favour to them because of their righteousness and holiness. They are smug behind all their material comfort and think that those who have less than them, or who lack something they have, or are suffering are less holy and righteous than them, all without realising it. Many in the modern Western church love to talk about how "blessed" they are, because they have a nice house, luxury car, fulfilling well-paying job with good work conditions, good marriage, and good children, regular holidays, and a big network of friends. Such is a false and deception view of what it means to be truly blessed, which has taken the Church by storm. Their boasting, they think, is a means of glorifying God, but it is not. It is an abomination to God: Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished (Proverbs 16:5). Woe to you who love to boast about your so-called "blessings", and parade it in front of everyone. You may think you are so favoured by God because of what you have, but you are not. Many unbelievers in various parts of the world think that Christianity is an ethnocentric religion, both in the western and non-western world. This is in large part owing to the presentation of the history of Christianity as primarily a western one, where the western world is presented as good and righteous, and non-western world presented as bad and full of darkness. However, Christianity has had strong historical roots outside of Europe since at least the Middle Ages, if not before in places such as  Africa and Middle East.  In recent history, Christianity has been twisted and used by ethnonationalists in the west to justify their supremacy, who typically love to target islam for criticism, not because they are righteous, but because it allows them to justify their supposed moral superiority to the non-western world. The Bible warns that many will be deceived in the Last Days (Matthew 24:11; 1 Timothy 4:1). Indeed, there are many professing Christians who endorse or support the alt-right movement, thinking they are 'righteous' simply because they oppose islam. Just because someone opposes one evil or heresy, does not mean they are righteous.  To think the someone is righteous simply because they oppose one anti-Christ religion, such as islam is extremely foolish. The alt-right opposes islam, not because it is an anti-christ religion, but because it opposes "western civilisation" which they are oh so proud of. They are proud of their so-called "western civilisation" and think that it is their ethnicity which makes the "white race" 'great'. That is ethnonationalism, pride in one's ethnicity, and in one's nation for being of that ethnicity. Ethnocentrism, or racism, is the idea that one's ethnicity makes one superior to others. It is an extremely subtle mindset which so many people are under but do not realise. It manifests in all kinds of ways. One such way it manifests is the belief that violence done by one ethnic group against another is justified, but violence done by another ethnic group is always wrong.  Ethnocentrism is a vile worldly mindset. It is entirely contrary to the teaching of the Bible that "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). The distinctions which determine the superiority of one ethnicity, sex or social-economic status are gone in Christ. Many in the modern Church in the west are smug behind their wealth. That includes not just those with large houses,  high levels of disposable income, and high-paying jobs. No, includes the many who do not consider themselves rich, but have a house to live in with electricity with a job, or who receive government assistance for the basic needs. Many of such people are just as proud in their hearts as those with large houses, much disposable income and high-paying jobs. Such people often do not realise that they are trusting in mammon, as opposed to God. A person trusts one or the other (Matthew 6:24).  They focus on long-term financial planning to ensuring that they and their families needs will be met, instead of simply trusting in God. They look forward to simply enjoying their "retirement", as opposed to working to advance in the Kingdom of God and do good works.
