Economics is a matter of ethics and morality (whether you like it or not)

Many in the modern Church think that economics has nothing to do with ethics or morality. They think that ethics and morality do not apply to economics, or any other area of life they believe is 'secular', and thus should be 'separate' from the sacred. Such is the deception of the 'secular vs sacred' divide from the world which has really deceived the Church, thinking that it has no liberty to speak about ethics and morality about economics, or that such ethics and morality are irrelevant to economics. Economics is a philosophy. It is a set of ideas, a set of doctrines. Every doctrine has a ethic and morality, whether it be good or bad. For example, there is the communist ethic, capitalist ethic, nationalist ethic, or even the liberal ethic. Each ethic has a spirit behind it which gives the ethic its power , just as sin has a power. In fact, it is because of the power of sin that each worldly ethic has a power behind it - an evil, wicked, demonic power. Such w...

Mammon works with liberalism

How does mammon work with liberalism of all sorts?  He uses liberalism to entice those wicked vile humans into thinking it is legitimate to do as one chooses, and that any moral restraint or God-given moral prohibition is "oppressive". Such moral "oppression" is a violation of one's dignity which comes from the 'freedom' to do whatever one chooses as long as one does not "harm" others outwardly. The ethic is that all can do as they choose to maximise one's fleshly pleasures.

The Sin of Omission in the Modern church

The modern church is guilty of the sin of omission. It passionately fights against human trafficking and sex slavery in particular. However, it is often silent about abortion and homosexual "marriage". Even the unsaved in the pro-life movement are louder than the modern church about abortion.  The world cannot be relied on to fight evil for it is evil. Evil fighting evil begets more evil. The world is fickle and its foundations are on the shifting sands of humanistic morality. Its ultimate aim is to make society "better", not fight evil for the evil that it truly is.  Less than 10 years ago, general society, including many secular people would condemn homosexuality on moral grounds. A person suspected of being homosexual would be gossiped about at school and hated by even the wicked "TC" students. Now, after much, propaganda from the media, academia and political arena, only the bravest and most courageous of souls would speak up against the morality of...

The Deception of Humanism

The world has changed dramatically each century, and the changes of the 21 st century are no less dramatic.  One of the most significant changes is the dominance of humanism and its selfish sympathy for groups deemed to be marginalised or oppressed. Such is the starkest manifestation of humanism. Humanism is the ideology that people are good, moral and even righteous by nature. It assumes that whatever evils humans may commit, it is not because of an inherently evil nature, but rather because of environmental factors such as poverty, inequality or a lack of education. Environmental factors, thus, must be taken into account to determine the moral culpability of an act.  The good deeds of a person must also be taken into account to determine the moral culpability of an immoral act of a person since moral culpability is not determined by the act per se , but determined according to the person’s overall character. Therefore, if a person has stolen from others and murdered ot...

How Mammon Causes Conflict and War (4): Hate and pride

Mammon causes people to be self-satisfied, not they they are satisfied for what they have, but that they have satisfied with having more than others. As such, mammon uses this pride to arouse envy, and covetousness in others. Envy and covetousness leads to all kinds of sin.    For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (James 3:16). Such is demonic, earthly, sensual wisdom. This is contrast to godly, heavenly and spiritual wisdom from God. T he wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy (James 3:17).  Such wisdom produces the fruit of righteousness,  which comes from a heart of peace for " t he fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace " (James  3:18).  Double-mindedness is the opposite of integrity. Double-mindedness seeks to do the right thing only when it advantages oneself, not...

Response to critic of ‘Capitalism’s False Ethic of Giving’ (8)

[God was so concerned that people not give money to the government system, that He even forbid the Temple tithe from being money. If a person could not get their grain and animals to the temple, they were to be sold for money, and spent by the individual.] Where does it say that God forbid the Temple tithe from being money? [Because if you read the Old Testament carefully, you will find that it distinguishes the two.] Are you trying to suggest that the secular is to be separated from the sacred? If you are, that distinction is a false distinction. It seems like you are trying to read into the Bible what you want, with a spirit of humanism, causing you to interpret the Bible using a carnal mind. Critic's comment in brackets, my response interspersed. [Religious laws which are a person's individual responsibility and carry no punishment, and laws which the government is responsible for enforcing. You wouldn't pass a law that people should have to pray, wo...

Mammon's Best Kept Secret: What the Modern Church does not Know about Mammon

Many people in the modern church do not understand what mammon is. They think they do, but they really do not. They often think it is a 'minor' issue and that by virtue of exposing mammon, one is setting up a "test" (in one's own human "wisdom") to determine who is under the spirit of mammon. I indeed have had someone say this to me. He said that by "my" test, I am suggesting that the disciples in the New Testament would fail it because they do not warn about 'mammon'. Indeed, he is like many Christians who do not understand what mammon is for what it really is.  The Bible has many verses about money and earthliness . Any Christian who doubts this needs to read his or her Bible. The spirit of mammon literally works through all earthly things, and everyone  who is unsaved is under the spirit of mammon. I will present a Biblical case for this as below: You are either For Jesus or Against Jesus Jesus said that, " He that is not...

Envy and Strife Drive Wars

We as as society often talk about wars as political, cultural, economic or social, but very rarely does anyone ever think about the spirit behind it. The wars in the world are wide and varied, but all have the same spirit behind it. It is the spirit of mammon. A war may certainly have the spirit of harlotry or jezebel behind it, but all of them have the spirit of mammon behind it. There are 5 common characteristics of all wars: (1)  dissatisfaction  with current status quo, (2)  conflict between groups of different ideas, beliefs, values or perceptions, (3)  challenge to status quo, (4)  destruction  of the framework of the status quo and (5) support  for the new change . Wars, which are sometimes called liberations, depending on how one perceives the previous status quo, always involves a dissatisfaction with the current attitude towards an act, circumstances, human relations or certain groups. While certain attitudes may be immora...

The Heart of Capitalism: Unmasking its Real Face

Many people, both the unsaved and Christians, think that capitalism is the best way to generate wealth, and treat generating wealth as a 'right' or as a 'given'. However, what many people do not see, or fail to bother to care, is the morality and ethics of capitalism. Capitalism is challenged by the unsaved for political and economic reasons, but rarely, if ever, for its morality and ethics. Capitalism seems to be kind, because of the wealth it generates and its ability to lift millions out of poverty. Indeed, this is most starkly demonstrated China's conversion from an economically communist state, to a capitalist one. The real question though, is not what are the consequences of capitalism, but what underlies the ideology of capitalism, that determines whether it is moral.  The question as to what values underlie the idea of capitalism itself has been challenged, twisted and repackaged into one that seeks to determine its morality in terms of its consequences...

Response to a Critic of 'Capitalism's False Ethic of Giving' (3)

The comments of the critics are in green, enclosed by the square brackets. My response is in purple, interspersed in between the paragraphs enclosed by square brackets. [Didn't Jezebel have to come up with that elaborate murder plot so that a the king of Samaria could get Naboth's land? Naboth couldn't sell it.] How is this related to capitalism, let alone the morality and ethics of capitalism? [They believed that the land was an inheritance from God, parceled out to individual tribes and families according to His will. Therefore land was never really sold, only leased - and that only under the most dire circumstances. Real Estate offices in   ancient Israel didn't do very good business.] Indeed, real estate is a product of individualised, humanistic capitalism. It is opposed to communalism which respects all material things to be God’s, and involves people sharing property, not keeping property for themselves or their own families.  Capitalism is the op...
