"Why do you emphasise the spirit of mammon?" "Why do you not talk about anything else?"  These are very common questions I have been asked. Indeed, they are good questions.  The spirit of mammon is behind everything opposed to God. Jesus Himself said that " No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money " (Matthew 6:24). But, you may say, there is no 'spirit of mammon'.  Ephesians 6:12 tell us that we fight against principalities and powers. These are spiritual forces of darkness from satan: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood , but against principalities, against powers , against the rulers of the darkness of this world , against s piritual wickedness in high  places . Burger King has started selling a 'proud' burger to celebrate homosexuality. While many may say this is their business which is true, this incident is the start of the commercialisation of homosexuality. Homosexuality is no longer a mere act, or political movement; it is now an advertisement of value to business that can be used to sell its products. This indicates that homosexuality is not only accepted and embraced, but that the homosexual agenda dominates those that oppose it. For the Gospel to be accepted by a person, he must humble himself and realise he has sinned against God, and deserves punishment. He must realise that it was his sin that put Jesus on the Cross. It was his iniquity for which Jesus was crushed. It was his transgressions for which Jesus was pierced. It is not because of a failure to be friend of a Christian, or even to respect a Christian that he is going to Hell. It is because of his sins. Thus, he must first understand his sins will lead him to Hell, and when he fears this because he has humbled himself and that he has no other way, he must flee to the Cross of Calvary and seek Jesus for mercy. Satan uses another devious, cunning technique to tempt people into sin. He uses the pride of life, which is spiritual pride, to tempt people into sin. This spiritual pride can be found in both the saved and the unsaved. One need not be able to see spiritual things, like the unsaved, to have spiritual pride. As long as one has a human spirit, one can fall into spiritual pride. Spiritual pride is simply pride in oneself for who one is as a person. Pride is not merely an elevated view of oneself; it is a spirit and an attitude that one is well whether in the spiritual or moral sense. For one to think that one is right because one thinks so is an example of pride. The phrase "do what you think is right" is of the spirit of pride. The pride of life is pride that one gains from how one chooses to live, or how one does live.
