The spirit of Liberalism


Many in the west are under the spirit of liberalism, including even many genuine Christians. Liberalism is of the spirit of independence, which is rebellion and lawlessness. It leads to the mindset that one can do as one chooses. The self reigns supreme. As long as one has some desires, one should be able to satisfy those desires, is the philosophy of liberalism.

Much of what is called 'conservatism' in the west is really just a inoculated form of liberalism that is dressed under the trappings of 'Judeo-Christian' values. Such conservatism is full of the spirit of liberalism, and is at least as ungodly and worldly as its more ostentatious liberalism, often labelled 'leftism'. It appears more 'moral', making most professing Christians feel comfortable with it, that such an appearance is just a false guise of morality. The heart of such 'conservatism' only just borrows certain concepts of morality from the true Christian faith, and uses such concepts for advancing the flourishing and progress of humankind. Humankind is the ultimate measure of all things.

Liberalism is of the spirit anti-Christ, in making humankind supreme, and all things measured by the desires and wants of humankind. It is the height of rebellion and lawlessness, and despises the idea that one must obey God because of who He is, because regards humankind to be above God. Any commands of God must be submitted to the ends of humankind. Such is the essence of liberalism.

Signs of a Person under the spirit of mammon

Both the unsaved and saved can be under the spirit of mammon. Do not be deceived! An unsaved person can only serve mammon because it is not part of his nature to submit to God in any way (Romans 8:7). However, the Christian can most definitely yield to the temptations of mammon just as he can yield to the temptations of satan. This is what is means for a Christian to be under the spirit of mammon.
