As Long as One Does not fully Love God, One can only Love and Serve Mammon

They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Timothy 6:9-10).

The Bible contains many warnings about who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, and more importantly, who will end up in Hell: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind (1 Corinthians 6:9). 

The first of the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament is: Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:3). The Greatest Commandment Jesus gave was to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind" (Luke 10:27). This meant full devotion to God which requires one to forsake everything else including one's possessions (Luke 12:33), freedom, free will (Matthew 16:24) family and one's own life (Luke 14:26). Jesus also made it clear that no one can serve God and mammon. One will be devoted to one and hate the other (Matthew 6:24). Therefore, as long as one is not willing to give up one's comfort, freedom, rights, possessions, family or one's life, one is serving mammon because obedience to God is full obedience. Partial obedience to God is disobedience because partial love for God IS hatred of God. 

Mammon is the spirit that seduces people into turning their back on God, and seeking the treasure of this world before seeking the Kingdom of God. It whispers in the ears of people that they should do what they desire, do as they see fit in their own eyes, and seek to satisfy their heart. It tells them that they should do what is easier, rather than take the hard, long, narrow road to the narrow gate. 

Whenever one fails to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, one is being seduced by mammon which tempts people to listen and take comfort in their own desires, aspirations, visions and dreams, rather than that of God's desires, thoughts and plans. Mammon is the demonic spirit behind humanism which elevates humans above God. 

As the natural person hates God, humanism to him, seems to provide an ethic of love as humanism esteems humanity, its "wisdom", desires and aspirations which are all of the carnal flesh. To him, humanism in whatever form it is, whether it be secular humanism, or spiritual humanism which manifests itself in all the false religions of the world is that which makes sense. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12). Mammon literally calls people to take the Road to Hell because it deceives people into thinking that serving human interests is righteous and loving, as opposed to obeying God which the natural person sees as "unrighteous", "unloving" and "oppressive".

Many unsaved people think that they love people, and because of that, they deserve Heaven. They have been deceived. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (1 John 4:8). This means that a person needs the love of God in him to love others for God is love. Loving God will all one's heart, mind, soul, spirit and strength is to have "righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness" (1 Timothy 6:11). This is because the love of God is literally diametrically opposed to the love of mammon which can be conquered by seeking "righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness" (1 Timothy 6:9-11). The unsaved person cannot love others because he is slaves to the desire to sin which can only serve his flesh, and therefore mammon as he is serves his carnal flesh is serving mammon.

Mammon deceives people into thinking that they can love others and themselves. Just as how one cannot love God and mammon, one cannot love mammon and others because such a person has no love in them. 

No matter how much an unsaved person thinks he or she loves others, his or her "love" is not really love at all. It is really just love for oneself, and love for others based on how others love oneself.

The world seeks contentment. It seeks to be contented in pursuit of all kinds of things, whether it be money, health, wealth, romance, sex, careers or family. It does not necessarily seek after riches to be content. However, that one does not seek after money as the first priority, but other things that are typically associated with good traditional values, such as family, does not in any way mean that one is content in the godly sense. Many people just cannot understand what usury is for what it is. Thus, in order for people to understand what exactly usury is, they must be made to understand debt first. Debt is not merely money to be repaid. It has power.
