The spirit of mammon is ever so subtle. He blinds people into thinking that their wants are their needs, and that easy credit is their wealth, so that they think that they can indulge themselves with such easy credit. Indeed, many in the modern world are in debt. This should not be surprising at all for the wicked borrow but do not repay (Psalm 37:21). What should shock oneself is that there are many professing Christians who by their lives show a desire for holiness and righteous, but so many of such Christians are borrowing money to buy so many earthly things. Yes, that is right. Christians who a seeking to be holy and righteous in all areas of life - except in the area of finance. It is all so easy to brush off such professing Christians as those who are not true Christians, and who are not seeking righteousness, but just pretending. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth (Psalm 37:21). The wicked borrow and do not repay. What does this mean? It means that the wicked think they entitled to borrow money, out of their "right", to make it theirs. However, it does not just mean that. There is a meaning behind it. It refers to an attitude and manner of spirit. A person may borrow money and not be able to repay. It may be absolutely beyond his capacity to do so. Does him not repaying make him wicked? A godless person may borrow money and repay it all, but repaying debts does not make him not wicked. The question is ask is not whether a person can financially repay one's debts. Rather, the question is what is his manner of spirit on borrowing money and repaying it. What Psalm 37:21 means is that it is wicked to think that one can borrow money and treat it as if one has a "right" to the money one has, not treating what one has as belonging to...

The modern debt-based global economic system appears to be attractive on the surface, giving people the sense of pride that the world has moved on from the ‘backwards’, ‘unenlightened’ economic system of the past.   Indeed, this is what the world would like to think. However, because it knows the modern economic system is one that is oppressive, it regards it as an evil backwards one. The modern economic system of finance is one the runs on debt. Debt is its life. If there was no debt, it would be dead. Most of the most floating around in the economy represents debt to be repaid to creditors. While one may have some cash that one has earned by labour, the rate of debt outgrows the rate of wealth creation. Debt is not wealth at all. It is bond money to be repaid to the master. We live in world full of hate. The unsaved hate those who hate them, hating each other, and loving only those who one can use (Titus 3:3). Such is a vile wicked world. Hatred of others, fellow humans, is rebellion against God. Those who hate others hate God for such people have no love. A person can only love when the love of God abides in Him.   For love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (1 John 4:7-8). Love is the fulfillment of the Law of God. Romans 13:8-13 makes this clear: Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
