There are those, including many Christians think that fighting for “human rights” is about righteousness and justice. There are also those who think the fight for “human rights” has merely been perverted by 21 st century human rights movement, and is no longer what it should be. Crisis pregnancy centres are extremely deceptive and themselves deceived about what they do.  They are not truly helping women and their babies. They advise a woman about her "options" about what to do in a "crisis pregnancy". Those options include child-murder, known by that disgusting, vile euphemism "abortion". Many in the modern Church are scared of offending those who feed their belly, whether it be their employer, or those who donate money to them, such as in the case of campus ministry workers who rely on donations given by those they minister to. They are also scared of offending those in their respective local churches who have money, those who are able to contribute much money to their church's activities. The modern Church is full of such people, full of fear of people, not just an ordinary fear, but a controlling fear, fearful of making even an unsaved person think they are unpleasant. Spiritual bondage is real. It is not a joke, or an just a excuse, a made-up concept to excuse one's own sins. Although it can be used to excuse sin, spiritual bondage is real and true. There is such a thing.  Unforgiveness is the classic case of spiritual bondage. If you harbour any bitterness or unforgiveness towards anyone, you are under the spiritual bondage of unforgiveness. Spiritual bondage comes from sin, which feeds on the desire to sin, which increases even more when one sins more. The Bible calls it 'slavery to sin' (Romans 6:6). The fear of people are also another classical case of spiritual bondage which so many are under, that is true converts who are orthodox, conservative and evangelical. There’s a reason that God commands all men everywhere to repent. It’s “…because He has appointed a Day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man Whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead ” (Acts 17:31, italics added).    We can have assurance that the Day of Judgment will take place and that Jesus will judge the earth— because of the resurrection .  So should we then try and convince an unbelieving world of the resurrection? Many do, by pointing to the 500 witnesses who saw Him after He was raised, to the disciple who actually touched His side, to those who were willing to be martyrs for Christ, etc. But is Islam true because of its martyrs who give up their lives for their faith? The Bible does not need to exactly list out all the sins explicitly to so that we can know. For example, gambling and nudity are sins. However, it does not list them out. That it does not list them as sins does not in any way mean that they are not. Likewise, usury is sin. Usury is not love. To charge usury against another so as to cause him to be enslaved to mammon, is itself to not love. As love is the fulfillment of the Law (Romans 13:10), usury is not love, and therefore it is sin. Usu ry is nothing but self-love . Those who live in self-love will incur the wrath of God: but wrath and indignation to those who are self-seeking and disobey the truth but are obeying unrighteousness (Romans 2:8). Usu ry is sin. A person who does not want to serve mammon, but God, may still fall into trying to serve both God and mammon by not fully trusting and obeying God; trusting that He will provide (Matthew 6:24-34) and obeying God fully out of fear of God (Proverbs 8:13, 9:10; Matthew 10:28). As a result of failing to fully trust and serve God and His alone, he gives into his flesh which is still seeking to dominate him. The flesh loves nothing by sin, and seeks only to serve its appetite for the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life (1 John 2:16).  Mammon seeks to tempt the true Christian by weakening his trust in God, so that he will not, nor cannot fully trust God, and therefore not fully obey God. The reason why Jesus said that no one can serve two masters in Matthew 6:24 , that is both God and mammon, is that both God and mammon demand to be our master. Mammon indeed does demand to be your master. He is actively seeking to make you be his slave by feeding on your flesh to satisfy the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). He seeks to do this in the most insidious of ways - by making you think you "need" all these earthly things, including basic temporal needs such as food, shelter and clothing. In making you think you "need" these things, he makes you anxious for these things.  To think that you need these things, is itself to be anxious for such things. It it itself to not trust God, out of your own self-sufficiency. No, what you need, or rather, who you need is God, who will then give you all these things out of His grace. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24). Many people in the modern western Church just do not understand what it means to be under the spirit of mammon. You can keep on explaining to them till you go blue in the face, as I have done, only to be met by angry rebukes, hostile reactions, and of course, harsh lectures on being gentle, making such lectures full of hypocrisy and absolutely foolish.  These Christians in the west are just hopeless, literally, hopeless when it comes to understanding all kinds of spiritual truths, including the truth about the spirit of mammon. Many in the modern western Church do not really understand what it means to to be under the spirit of mammon, both intellectually in their minds, and spiritually in their hearts. They do not even understand the doctrine of the spirit of mammon. This is the most shocking of all, because the Church is supposed to understand what mammon is, but of course, the modern Church does not. The unsaved have a better, albeit thoroughly flawed and corrupt understanding of what mammon is. This itself is an indictment of the modern Church in the west.  Indeed, this is disturbing that the Church does not even have knowledge which it should have.
