Why Bother With Studying the Evil Doctrines of the World if One is Christian?

Many followers of Christ in the west do not believe that studying the philosophy of false doctrines of the world is important. They think it is simply a colossal waste of time.

But is it really?

The Bible warns the follower of Christ not allow the world to influence him or her:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:1-3).

This is because it is all too easy to be influenced by the world. As long as one is not seeking counsel from the Word of God, one will inevitably be influenced by the world, and therefore be of the world.

You may say that the Bible simply says don't act like the world, or speak like the world. Yes, that is true. But equally, if not more so, it warns against thinking like the world. This is because thinking like the world will lead one to act and speak like the world. One's thinking needs to be corrected before one can have conduct and speech that is correct in the eyes of God. The thinking comes first before action and speech. One's thinking is a matter of life and death, salvation or eternal damnation because one is either an enemy of God, or child of God, in one's heart and mind. The unregenerate person is an enemy of God in his mind:

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled (Colossians 1:21).

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be (Romans 8:7).

One of the main things about pursuing a life pleasing to God is changing one's mind. Repentance of one's sins unto faith requires a change in mind.

That is why the Bible says "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ" (Colossians 2:8). It says BEWARE which means to be alert and run from all false doctrines, not just to know about, but to actively and consciously be alert to when false doctrines are creeping into your thinking and into the Church of Jesus Christ. Discernment is absolutely critical.

It is because of all the evil philosophies of the world that this blog Fighting the Evils of Mammon exists. This blog is the frontline of fighting all evils, which many Christians, especially the naive evangelicals in the west don't understand. They think it only exists to fight materialism. Nothing can be further from the truth.

Unlike the typical modern evangelical Christian discussions about evil worldly philosophies which are soppy, which attempt to soften all criticism of the world and apologise for it out of  its fear of man, this blog fearlessly, zealously and militantly attacks false doctrines of the world without shame or apology. This blog is zealous for Christ, and in being zealous, attacks liberalism, humanism, feminism, secularism, the homosexual agenda, enlightenment doctrines of "rights", "liberty" and "equality", capitalism and demoncracy.

It is also largely because of the weak, apathetic modernistic, mammonised, man-fearing, man-pleasing, useless western Church who can't even defend her doctrines without feeling apology, that this blog needs to exist. And all the more so.

The modern western Church need to cease being apologetic towards the world for her stance, and be bold, zealous and fearless in fighting the evils of the world.

Signs of a Person under the spirit of mammon

Both the unsaved and saved can be under the spirit of mammon. Do not be deceived! An unsaved person can only serve mammon because it is not part of his nature to submit to God in any way (Romans 8:7). However, the Christian can most definitely yield to the temptations of mammon just as he can yield to the temptations of satan. This is what is means for a Christian to be under the spirit of mammon. The signs of a person being under the spirit of mammon are: The person does not understand the spirit of mammon. This is because he or she is blinded by it and therefore cannot see it. The person reacts whenever being confronted with being told that they are under the spirit of mammon, or being told that they may be under it. This is not the person themselves reacting, but the spirit of mammon reacting. The person is self-satisfied with the abundance that they have. This is especially the case with many Christians today. They are happy with having a family, a well-paying job, security

Two types of contentment

The world seeks contentment. It seeks to be contented in pursuit of all kinds of things, whether it be money, health, wealth, romance, sex, careers or family. It does not necessarily seek after riches to be content. However, that one does not seek after money as the first priority, but other things that are typically associated with good traditional values, such as family, does not in any way mean that one is content in the godly sense. By no means! A person can be a "conservative" and "religious" but just as earthly as the "liberal". There are two types of contentment: earthly contentment and godly contentment. Earthly contentment finds its fulfillment and satisfaction in things that are passing away, not necessarily money, but also things like family, education and children. Yes, that's right. Many professing American Christians think that they could never be under the spirit of mammon because they care for their families and love their families, a

The spirit behind Debt, the spirit of Mammon, seeks to Blind, Control, Enslave and Dominate by debt

Many people just cannot understand what usury is for what it is. Thus, in order for people to understand what exactly usury is, they must be made to understand debt first. Debt is not merely money to be repaid. It has power. Debt indeed is power, which comes from a source not from God: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).  One can discern that debt has a power behind it if one uses one's godly discernment. Debt brings spiritual bondage to a person, not merely financial bondage, but spiritual bondage. The real issue with debt for all people whether unsaved or saved is that it keeps people from fully serving God. It is a spiritual stronghold of mammon that panders to the flesh, to make a God-hater even more hostile against God, by feeding on his flesh to increase its appetite even more. It is also a spiritual stronghold
