For the love of money is
the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred
from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Timothy 6:10).
Usury is indeed covered by the New Testament for those of you who magically think that usury is no longer a sin. How do I know usury is the love of money? It seeks to gain money for oneself, making a profit out of the debt slavery of another - another's bondage to money. It is not only selfish gain, but a stumbling block for others in tempting them into serving money, instead of God. Jesus said that no one can serve both God and mammon. To serve money, is to hate God, which is sin.
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).
