The social "gospel" is that which teaches that one need to do good works to be saved. This, therefore leads to the imperative that one must do good works not only to be saved, but to draw others to God. It uses material and social needs to draw people to Jesus. It is the height of damnable blasphemy, by subtly representing Jesus as the one who people should turn to live a life free from oppression or violence, rather than turning to Jesus to repent of one's sins and get right with God.
A professing "christian", Melinda Tankard Reist, who has worked for World Vision, an organisation which preaches the social "gospel" through its actions, is such a person. She praises Jesus for advancing what she calls "women's rights", and yet openly states that she fails to follow the teachings of Jesus.
The social "gospel" implies that Jesus came to serve as humankind "deserves". It implies that Jesus loves us because of who we are, not in spite of who we are: undeserving, unworthy sinners who have turned away from God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one (Romans 3:12).
Jesus did come to serve, but, not because anyone deserves it. God does not even need to give us life, and so if there is not even a such thing as right to life, there is no right to anything else. Thus, the social "gospel" is of the humanistic spirit of self-entitlement. The spirit behind it is mammon who appeals to the flesh.
No wonder the world loves the 'Christians" who preach the social "gospel". It appeals to their flesh. The social "gospel" is itself love for the world, and therefore hostile against God. The true church is that which is hated, mocked and defamed by the world:
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.
Those who preach the social "gospel" are worldly and unsaved. They are wolves whom the earthly spirit of mammon is working in.
