The world loves to exalt those who they perceive to fight evil. Unlike what many people think, both unsaved and saved, it is not that this evil world does not care about morality - it does. It does have a sense of right and wrong, however, this is of course, twisted and perverted by the evil, vile desires of the flesh which the world just loves to live by in its unregenerate, carnal mind:
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:5-8).
That is of the flesh, will reap things of the flesh, things which are evil, vile, earthly, sensual and demonic:
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting (Galatians 6:7-8).
It is not a matter of how "good" the unbeliever's intention may be in fighting evil. It is absolutely irrelevant because the unbeliever is not a good or righteous person. He is hostile against God, and therefore know not good, righteousness or justice (Proverbs 28:5). All his good works are filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). It is not that his good works have any good in them. Rather, it is that he is trying to cover up his evil by doing "good" works. The "good works" of the unrighteous, unsaved people, such as feeding the poor, fighting human trafficking and fighting abortion is filthy, abominable rags, worthy only to be burned up and discarded into the sea.
The modern Church, that is 21st century Christendom, has committed spiritual harlotry with the world in its attempts to fight evil. This has not only tainted its efforts to fight evil, but made it filthy rags worthy only to discarded and incinerated. The modern Church has adopted worldly thinking and incorporated such thinking in its attempts to fight evil - whether it be to fight human trafficking, pornography, prostitution or abortion or any other evil. Such is the spiritual harlotry of the modern Church.
Borrowing an idea that is from an evil worldview will not only taint obedience to God, but lead one to disobedience owing to the very nature of the idea itself. Such ideas are of the flesh, and what fellowship does the flesh have with the Spirit? None! Thus, all ideas of the flesh are to be eradicated, shunned from the Church, and treated with contempt. Ideas from evil worldview, that is, all fleshly world views, doctrines and ideas are to be flushed out of the system of the Christian. Colossians 2:8 warns against such vain philosophies and empty words: "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ".
The words 'spoil you through' is used implying that ideas and doctrines can spoil a person spiritually, and damage the person. It is not even worthy to mention this, however, I must inform for the sake of others for their good that I have experienced this before as a result of one modern evangelical who loves to impose his people-fearing and people-pleasing ways on others, which do pander to carnal human sensitivities. Ideas in themselves do indeed cause spiritual damage, even when one tries to resist it. In fact, the more one tries to resist such vain false doctrines, the more spiritual bondage it causes, and the stronger the bondage it is. The NIV Bible uses the world 'let no one take you captive'. Spiritual captivity is that state that one falls into as a result of being exposed to such vain philosophies or twisted theology, even one knows such are false, and seek to resist them.
Yet, many in the modern Church, such as modern evangelicals, think that such ideas can be borrowed and adopted in theology, evangelism, apologetics and fighting evil. What abominable, repugnant, foolishness, being full of the fear of people!
No matter how great is one's desire to care for others, love others, correct oppression or seek justice, even the slightest perversion or truth or even the slightest pandering to the carnal human desires taints it all. The world is of course full of half-truths. It should be obvious that any worldly "charity", if the term 'charity' should even be used, is evil and thrives on bitter envy and strife, leading to confusion and all kinds of evil (James 3:13-16). Such "good" motives and desires to care for others, that is, in very self-centred fleshly ways, do not nor cannot lead to any good. They can only lead to confusion and all kinds of evil, because of the very nature of such desires which are fleshly and earthly.
Such is the case of the religious pro-life movement in the US. You may argue that it is not secular and therefore good. What foolishness! Simply because something is not secular does not means it is any better, or that it is righteous or moral. I say this without apology: If one is not secular, good, even demons are not secular because they believe in one God and tremble (James 2:19)! Secularism is an ideology created by the devil for hedonistic fools, as opposed to fools who try to get into heaven by their own strength. One reason why there is so much deception is because of evil demonic spirits that seduce the flesh of unregenerate fools. It is irrelevant whether the fool is religious or secular for neither seeks after God (Romans 3:10-12).
The pro-life movement in the US is one that relies on its own human "strength", rather than on the reliance of God. It is made up of both religious and secular unsaved people. The movement is a religious one, not a secular one because it does not use materialist, naturalistic arguments, but refers to the sacredness of life as the main reason for fighting abortion. But, do they fight abortion because it is sin that offends God and fight it as sin? No, they do not fight abortion on the grounds that it offends God nor treat abortion as sin. Instead, they fight abortion as a "bad choice" or an infliction of (worldly) sorrow.
To make themselves look "caring" and full of "good" works, they claim to fight abortion as an 'exploitation' of women as if they were so "decent" and "kind". No! This is an extremely deceptive statement. It twists the real issue which is abortion being sin per se because it offends God, not because it causes (worldly) sorrow, takes away motherhood, or breaks down family relations. That is not what makes abortion. It is because it offends God and only because of that that makes it wrong. It is not because it "offends" abortive women, or upsets conservatives, or makes liberals look foolish that makes it wrong. End of story. There is no argument to this.
The good works of the unrighteous are filthy rags to God (Isaiah 64:6). What is good is defined only by God's standards for only God is good. None one is good (Matthew 24:36). What is true is defined only by God's standards for only God is true for "let God be true and every person be a liar" (Romans 3:4). Nothing could be further from the truth. That which is true is only true because it is of God. That which is false is false because it is not of God.
The modern Church needs to reject all the doctrines, philosophies and ideas of the world in fighting evil. It needs to eradicate even the smallest trace of such evil things from its mind and fight evil according to the ways of God as shown in the Bible.
The world loves its own "moral" crusaders: celebrities to donate much money while living an adulterous lifestyle, unsaved people who fight pornography and domestic violence using evil, diabolical feminist doctrines, and religious unsaved people who feed the poor and give blood to get into heaven, all while creating their false image of God. All such works are abominations to God. God hates such "good" works, works of iniquity. All the unsaved "moral" crusaders are not crusaders at all in any true sense, but vile, evil sinners.

This is exactly what is meant by the exhortation to the modern Church to come out of the world and use the Word of God in fighting evil. For what fellowship is there between the evil flesh which can only produce evil and the Spirit which can do no evil? None.
Only when one fights evil by the power of the Holy Spirit can one really truly fight evil. There is no such thing as a great world "crusader" against evil. There is no such thing as a great man or woman of God who abolishes evil. There are only weak people of an Almighty, Sovereign God who is the abolitionist and eradicator of all evils.
God is the abolitionist and eradicator of all sins. He will do so on Judgment Day which is the Great Day of Abolition and Eradication of all sins - the Day of Terror for the unsaved, and the Day of Rejoicing for the saints.
Church, trust in the power of the Jesus Christ, who came to destroy the works of the devil.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
