The spirit of rebellion who works through the doctrine of "rights" feeds on the fleshly desire to be independent from God. Independence from God is to disagree with God with anything He says or does. It is what satan seduced Adam and Eve into doing - into redefining evil.
The doctrine of "rights" precisely works through this fleshly desire to be independent of God. It establishes a standard by which the acceptability of the welfare of humans is determined by what humans demand, not by God's righteous decrees.
The doctrine of "rights" is a product of the "enlightenment" era which was hostile against the ways of the true Church. It was a backlash against the Church's authority, which is ultimately a wicked rebellion against God. Hatred and rejection of the Church is hatred and rejection of God: He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me (Matthew 10:40).

The Church was seen by the "enlightenment" philosophers as backwards and bad for they were carnal and sought independence from God. This is precisely what the spirit of rebellion seeks to stir up the people to do. He did this through the doctrine of "rights".
