Wars are ultimately caused by unforgiveness and the absence of love, which is hatred. Ravi Zacharias once said that the conflicts and wars in the Middle East are the "logical outworking of unforgiveness". Indeed, war is not merely based on hate. War is hate.
Despite wickedness coming from the human heart (Matthew 15:19), there are evil spirits behind all evils in the world. Behind every deception, which is the beginning of all evils is a demonic spirit or satan himself. 1 John 4:1 warns: Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Likewise, 1 Timothy 4:1 warns of deceiving spirits: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
Deceiving spirits exist. The spirit of deception is the initiator of wars. His greatest deception is that war is merely murder, and that murder is the ultimate ends of war. He makes war successful through lies, and deception - the deception that war is not murder, or if it is murder, justified murder in a quest for justice. He is behind the "just war" doctrine both in the secular and religious conceptions of "just war".
No war is just. War is of the anti-christ because it is of the father of lies, the devil. Once deception blinds the masses, the masses just aimlessly and vehemently murder each other, thinking they are justified.
